Social media is a great tool to use in your everyday life. This Social Media Day, our goal is to educate more people on how to use social media safely and effectively, and how to use it as a tool in their everyday life.
Chapter #1: Social Media Safety
At MyDay, our top priority is user safety. We strictly enforce our community guidelines and instantly sanction anyone found to be breaking them. With that said, here are our top tips on how to stay safe using social media:
Never give out any personal info.
Always check accounts are real before interacting. You can verify an account’s legitimacy by checking how many followers the account has (if it is representing a large corporation), how similar the posts are (if all posts contain very similar content, the account is most likely fake), and how long ago they joined (if possible).
Always read an article before sharing it. This helps stop the spread of misinformation.
Report and block accounts that are sharing inappropriate content, spamming, or bullying. If you report the account, the situation should be dealt with quickly and effectively.
Chapter #2: Using Social Media Effectively
Social media can have many benefits for small business owners, self-employed people, or people who want to showcase their work. There are many ways to use social media effectively if this is your situation. Here are a few ideas:
Post regularly. If you post little and far-between, your audience will start to lose interest in your content. Posting regularly will keep your audience interested.
Use relevant tags. Using the right tags can improve your engagement a lot.
Engage with other people’s content. This can help build a community.
Only post things that people want to see. Posting the most random things can stall your engagement.
Chapter #3: How to Use Social Media As a Tool in Your Everyday Life
Social media is a very valuable tool and it is important that you use it as best as you can. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of social media:
Only follow accounts that will improve your life in some way. If you do this, you will get the most knowledge out of social media. Following the most pointless crap will not benefit you.
Learn on social media! Whether it's a new recipe or a cool photography method, there is so much to learn on social media.
Share what you know! Sharing is caring!
Be positive towards other users. Negativity is the last thing others need!
Exercise using social media! There are so many workout tutorials to watch.
Try something new! There is always something new to learn with all the incredible tutorials out there.
We really hope that you enjoyed and benefited from this blog post. We hope that step by step, we can make social media a better place. Thank you for reading and have an amazing Social Media Day!
